Wet Mascara - Joseph Savarimouttou

Context: a fiction short film directed by Joseph Savarimouttou

Wet Mascara is a striking, intimate work about the brutal passage from innocence to awareness. Through the eyes of a girl on the edge of adolescence, the film portrays a transformation that is at once physical, emotional and symbolic. Confronted too early with a toxic relationship with a manipulative man, she finds herself trapped in a spiral of control and confusion.

Both poetic and brutal, this short film examines the mechanics of coercive control, the weight of gender norms, and the struggle to reclaim one's sense of self. It is a plunge into adolescent turmoil, where fear, disorientation and a thirst for freedom collide.

Our work: post-production of the short film

Eklepsis supported director Joseph Savarimouttou through the final phase of his project, delivering the film's complete post-production. Through meticulous editing, we preserved the story's inner rhythm, moving between silent tension and flashes of raw emotion.

Colour grading underlined the duality at the heart of the story: the softness of early adolescence against the oppression of a toxic relationship. With a contrasted palette and a grainy texture, Wet Mascara finds its voice somewhere between raw realism and dark poetry.

This project was an immersion into a dense universe, carried by a strong and uncompromising vision.
