Documentary on the La Plaine III Estate - CDC Habitat
Context: a documentary on the La Plaine 3 estate in Épinay-sous-Sénart
CDC Habitat is one of France's leading housing providers, owning and managing residential estates across the country. Among them, the La Plaine 3 estate in Épinay-sous-Sénart is part of an ambitious urban renewal project designed to improve residents' quality of life.
Aware that these transformations mark a turning point in the history of the place, the CDC Habitat teams wanted to preserve the estate's collective memory. They entrusted us with a documentary designed to gather the voices of the tenants, first-hand witnesses of the memories, stories and moments of life shared in these buildings over the years.
Through these interviews, the aim was to capture the residents' sincere attachment to their estate and to honour the social and human identity of the place.
Our work: directing a documentary, interviews and production
Our team handled the filming, directing and editing of a 20-minute documentary, conceived as a genuine time capsule. The film highlights the diversity of the testimonies and the emotional richness of these conversations, while keeping the storytelling authentic.
We conducted all of the interviews ourselves, drawing out the tenants' sincerity and spontaneity to render their memories faithfully. Particular care went into the art direction, the sound design and the pacing of the edit, for a result that is both human and respectful of each person's story.
The project is part of a collective memory effort, helping preserve the soul of a place in the midst of change and building a bridge between past, present and future.
